Destroyed Planet concept - Gallifrey - Doctor's who destroyed home

The Time War, more specifically called The Last Great Time War, is a conflict pitted the Time Lords against the Daleks.

The homework assign is about a destroyed planet.
When I started thinking about the concept I thought "Doctor who!" :D

Gallifrey was the homeworld of the Time Lords.
It had been implied that it was destroyed along with the Dalek Empire, by the Doctor during the Time War.

Weapons used by the Time Lords included Bowships, Black Hole Carriers and N-Forms
Near the planet you can see a white circle, well it's a black hole
According to "Interstellar", (a movie that I should watch!)  black holes are white (from the glowing ring around it)

It was a lot of fun to draw this

First time I used golden ratio, it's cool and I'll definitely use it again and try to understand it better

What I've been up to lately - concept art home work

For home work I need to create a model sheet
here's a progress
I know the character supposed to stand with wide opened arms but this design isn't going to be for 3d modeling anyway

I left out a lot of details but I guess it's kind of okay because the whole point is to get to know the process and learn as much as I can.

It's my personal design

so what's his thing?
His the bad guy but not from his point of view
he's just doing his job
so what if he was kidnapped as a kid to a devil worshiping family?
brainwashed to believe his duty is to bring a child into this world and use it as a vessel
so he found a pathetic woman and married her
once she brought a child he simply disappeared
It was a little girl known as the little red riding hood (yeah yeah, they told us to write a version of our own to the story and for some reason I gave it a twisted touch)
The little girl poisoned her mother's mind who was a pathetic woman to begin with
until her soul couldn't handle life anymore
The little girl offered her a deal, once she murders a family member she will become whole again
she agreed and went off to her mother's house
she murdered her like an animal
and then the hunter came in and killed the psycho
and took the little girl with him and smiled
"mission accomplished" he thought

The father is also the hunter

I need to draw some more facial expressions and some gestures of the character
oh the weapon he uses

wip - random sketch

I was going to upload a sketch but every time I felt like it's not good enough
I know I got better
but I'm far from being really good
knowing that I didn't use any reference is motivating
and the whole process was very messy and more of an experiment

it was fun and I'll try to get more into details
keep practicing anatomy!
keep practicing gestures, clothing materials, color and light theory
and with each day of practicing I'll get better

Color Study

Here is a color study from the book "Color and Light" by James Gurney

There's a piece there by Martin Keane

The face has more complex colors, the nose and cheeks area is more red.
The zone from the nose to the chin tends towards blue or green and the forehead is more yellow.

I used a big brush and I know it doesn't look very good
and comparing to the original it's almost horrible
but it's a start
...

next color study will be better
maybe one day I'll recreate this study and we will all see the progress :P

drawing studies and a cat!

I got bored so I started drawing Loki, the best cat in the world!

and here are some studies
I usually don't upload gestures

Can't believe this Wednesday I'm about to start a concept art course!
I freak out and always feel like I'm not good enough and I feel bad when I'm not drawing
I feel like I'm getting better but it's far from being *really* good
I spend some of the time studying Burne Hogarth's books
I watch sycra's videos
and I have some Imaginefx magazines

I just need to believe in myself
